boudoir photographer London

I know the thought of boudoir can make some people feel embarrassed or nervous. Believe me, I’m now accustomed to the gasps or giggles I get whenever I share that I’m a boudoir photographer. Yet, I also see the desire in their eyes to learn more or perhaps experience it for themselves.

So if you’re currently wondering if you should book a session or perhaps you’re getting ready for yours, I hope my list of the 12 most frequently asked questions about boudoir photography will ease any worries you might have and give you an insight on preparing for a boudoir session with me.

Do you share my images?

Your privacy is my utmost priority, especially given the delicate nature of boudoir photography. Your images will never be shared in public unless you give me permission to do so. It’s understandable that once you see your amazing pictures, you might want to share them, but the decision is always yours. Whatever your preferences are, my job is to ensure you have a comfortable, trustworthy and awesome experience!

What do I wear?

Although people mostly wear lingerie for boudoir photo shoots, you don’t have to wear one! It’s all about your personality and how much you want to show. Either way, capturing your natural essence and sensuality is the point of boudoir. So you can rock up with the most daring lingerie or decide a corset, camisole or men’s tee is more your speed. Whatever you decide, I’ll be here to offer styling advice to ensure I capture you at your best.

How many outfits should I bring?

You’ll be able to change into 3 outfits for the allocated photoshoot time. If you’d like to change into more outfits and spend more time, we can chat about this during your pre-session consultation. I’m here to make your experience what you want it to be, so just let me know.

Are hairstyling and makeup included?

Yes! They’re most definitely included in all of my luxury boudoir sessions. I ask that you come fresh-faced with clean hair on the day to begin your glam session with our pro makeup artist. Please, no spray tans 4-6 weeks before your session as it stains our bedding and carpets, and doesn’t photograph well. Have you got a makeup look you’d like for your session? Come along with your ideas and we’ll get you looking your best.

I’m not a model! Will you direct me?

Ha! I get this a lot and I always tell my clients not to worry because, after a few minutes of directing them, they start to get the hang of it and it’s not as scary as you may think! In my experience, most people simply need a little help in the right direction and I’ll be there every step of the way guiding you to flattering poses.

Will you photoshop my images?

I do edit images for light, exposure, colour, and facial blemishes or pimples. However, I’m not heavy-handed with my retouching and will not alter your body size. The main point of boudoir to me is about loving ourselves and capturing these moments that allow our inner beauty to shine through. So editing out features that make you who you are, can be damaging. That being said, my job as an expert is to pose you in flattering angles that bring out the best in you.

Can I bring a friend?

This might sound like a good idea to come with a cheerleader, but in reality, I’ve found that when there’s an audience, people tend to hold back and not pose as much as they would have without someone they know seeing them in delicate positions. Getting the best out of this experience requires you to let loose, have fun and not worry about entertaining your guests. I promise that you’re in great hands and will be made to feel comfortable throughout your session. But if you really want to, you can come along with a friend as long as they understand not to interfere with the photoshoot process.

Do you have payment plans?

I offer a pre-session payment plan that offers you bonus products and a post-session payment plan that allows you to split the costs for up to 12 months with no interest! They’re very flexible and you can read more about them here. Let me know if this is something that you want to set up and I’ll go through everything with you.

What type of print products do you have?

I offer a variety of luxury albums, bespoke print boxes, and wall art frames. Whether you’d like to display your beautiful images in your bedroom as wall art or would like a discreet luxury album in a custom box, be assured that you’ll have soulful images to look back on forever or even pass down to your grandchildren if you wanted to! You’ll get to see the range we offer on the day of your session.

Do you offer digital images?

Yes, most of my collections include digital files. You’re also able to purchase only digital images. You’ll get a password-protected personal online gallery so that you can easily download the files to your phone or share them with your loved ones. During your consultation, we’ll go through the collections and you can make your ideal selection.

Where are you located?

Our studio is based in East London. However, I’m also mobile which means I can travel to photograph you anywhere. Want to shoot in your mansion? Ok! Want to shoot outdoors? Sure! Interested in booking a luxury hotel or Airbnb? I’ll meet you there! What about a travel destination? Sounds great.

Anything else I should be aware of?

Manicures and pedicures are details people often forget, but these are important. Make sure to have your nails freshly painted with no chipping. Also, come with a clean face and hair, take care of your skin to prevent any breakouts, get lots of sleep, and drink water! This will reduce dark circles/puffy eyes and reduce bloating. Finally, ensure you eat before your arrival so you have lots of energy to have fun during your session and not get tired, hangry, or irritated! Don’t stress, this is going to be an awesome experience!
